VOICE TRACK OVER-EXPOSURE
QUESTION FOR DAN O'DAY:
"I work at a 5-station group consisting of 3 FMs and 2 AMs, and our
stations are voice tracked in numerous dayparts throughout the
week. On a regular basis you will hear our swing announcer in the
same time slot on different stations. One guy was actually on the
air (voice tracked) for 89 hours in a one-week period!
"What's your take on the same voice being on different stations
simultaneously, and do you think the audience really cares about
how much they hear a particular voice?"
DAN REPLIES:
If the formats share very little of the audience (a Soft AC and an
Alternative Rocker, a Country and an Urban), I don't think you have
much to worry about. But one voice on an AC, a Soft AC, and a Hot
AC...all in the same daypart? Not such a good idea.
