{"id":792,"date":"2009-07-03T00:05:09","date_gmt":"2009-07-03T07:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/?p=792"},"modified":"2009-09-03T23:52:39","modified_gmt":"2009-09-04T06:52:39","slug":"o%e2%80%99day%e2%80%99s-travel-woes-37-what-did-i-forget-this-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/o%e2%80%99day%e2%80%99s-travel-woes-37-what-did-i-forget-this-time\/","title":{"rendered":"O\u2019DAY\u2019S TRAVEL WOES #38: &#8220;What Did I Forget This Time?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>February, 1995<\/strong> (continued)<strong>: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After returning home from various parts of North America, a couple of days later, thanks largely to the efforts of KBBY\u2019s <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Marilyn Woods<\/strong><\/span>, I drove an hour north to conduct <a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/seminars\"><em>How To Create Maximum Impact Radio Advertising<\/em><\/a> for the Ventura County Radio Broadcasters Association in the morning, followed by a KBBY air talent seminar that afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Although Ventura is only 50 miles away, it was decided I should drive up the night before and stay at a hotel to avoid getting stuck in rush hour the next morning.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever I pack for a trip, I consult a checklist on my computer to make sure I don\u2019t forget anything. Because this trip would be just a 60-minute drive, I said to myself, \u201cI don\u2019t need to check my list. I can keep track in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This, of course, is illogical; a short trip requires as much attention to detail as a longer one.<\/p>\n<p>So, naturally, I forgot something:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_793\" style=\"width: 234px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-793\" class=\"size-full wp-image-793\" title=\"Underwear\" src=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/Underwear.jpg\" alt=\"Dan, back in 1996. Before he grew his beard.\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-793\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dan, back in 1996. Before he grew his beard.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Clean socks and underwear.<\/p>\n<p>A few days later I returned to Lansing, Michigan, for my third visit with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. They had me present <a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/seminars\"><em>Air Personality Plus+ <\/em><\/a>the day before their convention. And then a few days later (still February, remember), I journeyed to Dallas for the third annual <a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/pdgrad\"><strong>PD Grad School<\/strong><\/a> (which I produce).<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a different kind of Customer Service than the type I usually experience (and usually report to you here), at our host hotel:<\/p>\n<p>One of our attendees entered an elevator with a hotel bellman. The bellman asked, <em>\u201cHow are you today, sir?\u201d <\/em>and the attendee replied,<em> \u201cI have a splitting headache. I wish I had an aspirin.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The bellman offered to get some aspirin, but the guest said,<em> \u201cOh, no, don\u2019t bother. But thanks for offering.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Five minutes later there was a knock on the guest\u2019s door. It was the bellman. With two aspirin.
