I\u2019ll figure out what to say as I\u2019m leaving my message.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Is that approach&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Foolish?<\/p>\n<p>Lazy?<\/p>\n<p>Typical?<\/p>\n<p>Yes.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the time, it\u2019s also:<\/p>\n<p>Ineffective.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Not structuring your message so that it grabs the recipient\u2019s attention from your very first words<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The average business executive listens to his voice mail messages with his finger poised over the \u201cdelete\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>And as soon as he decides this phone call is <strong>not<\/strong> one that he needs to return or one that he will benefit from returning, he hits \u201cdelete\u201d&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and never looks back.<\/p>\n<p>You need to command the interest of your prospect from your very first words.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Giving your sales pitch in your message<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The purpose of your voice mail message is <strong>not<\/strong> to sell your product or service.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not to give a commercial for your business.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s to get the prospect to return your call.<\/p>\n<p>Your message should not include even a single word that isn\u2019t calculated to make the recipient call you back promptly.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Sounding eager<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Eager salespeople do not attract customers or clients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Confident<\/strong> salespeople do.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, next week&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/telephone\">teleseminar<\/a> gives you the information, the mindset, and the very words you should use to infuse your message with an unmistakable confidence.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Creating a personal distance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At least 90% of voice mail messages left by salespeople (or other business people trying to establish contact with strangers) create a huge chasm \u2014 a great physical space \u2014 between themselves and their prospects.<\/p>\n<p>And they do so <strong>with their very first words.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They use common phrases that immediately signals the prospect, <em>\u201cThis is a stranger who wants something from me. Time to hit the \u2018delete\u2019 button.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Not determining where on the hierarchy of calls you want to be perceived by the recipient<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Your prospect returns to her office and finds 20 voice mail messages waiting for her.<\/p>\n<p>Does she simply return all 20 calls in the order they came in?<\/p>\n<p>Of course not.<\/p>\n<p>First she decides <strong>which<\/strong> calls to return.<\/p>\n<p>Then she decides which of those calls to return first.<\/p>\n<p>You need to leave a message that commands a premiere position on the hierarchy of calls that <strong>will<\/strong> be returned.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Not making the recipient want to call you back<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>How do you get someone to return your call?<\/p>\n<p>By making that person <strong>want<\/strong> to return your call.<\/p>\n<p>Think about the messages you\u2019re currently leaving: Do they really make the prospect <strong>want<\/strong> to return your call?<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Measuring the wrong numbers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Selling via telephone \u2014 which includes cold calling new prospects as well as calling \u201cold\u201d prospects, existing clients, and for former clients \u2014 is \u201ca numbers game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But contrary to what most salespeople are taught, there are <strong>two<\/strong> numbers that determine your amount of returned voice mail messages.<\/p>\n<p>One is the number of calls you make. Everything else being equal, the more voice mail messages you leave, the more will be returned.<\/p>\n<p>Most salespeople (and sales managers) focus on that number because it can be objectively determined quite easily: Keep an accurate tally of the messages you leave, and you\u2019ve got a very accurate measurement.<\/p>\n<p>The other number also can be measured, but few people even consider it.<\/p>\n<p>That number is the \u201cimpact rating\u201d of your voice mail message.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201czero\u201d impact rating = <strong>No one ever returns<\/strong> your voice mail messages.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201c100\u201d impact rating = <strong>Everyone always returns<\/strong> your voice mail messages.<\/p>\n<p>Your own impact rating falls somewhere been 0 and 100.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all up to you.<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to double your sales by making twice as many calls?<\/p>\n<p>Or would you rather double your sales by making the same amount of calls \u2014 but with twice the success rate?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all up to you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/telephone\"><strong>How To Get Your Voice Mail Messages Returned <\/strong><\/a>(teleseminar)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even if you don&#8217;t sign up for my teleseminar (although you should), these tips will help you get more of your voice mail messages returned.
