{"id":2358,"date":"2009-10-09T00:48:11","date_gmt":"2009-10-09T07:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/?p=2358"},"modified":"2009-10-09T00:48:11","modified_gmt":"2009-10-09T07:48:11","slug":"oday-tuxedo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/oday-tuxedo\/","title":{"rendered":"O\u2019DAY\u2019S TRAVEL WOES #50: Forced To Wear A Tuxedo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>June, 1995 <\/strong>(continued)<strong>:<\/strong> My second trip this month was to Lake of the Ozarks, where <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Don Hicks<\/strong><\/span> and the Missouri Broadcasters Association had me present <em>Power Phones<\/em> and <em>Promoting Your Radio Station.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em>That was the easy part.<\/p>\n<p>The hard part was emceeing the MBA awards banquet that night.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, the REALLY hard part was putting on a tuxedo.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2360\" title=\"Dan O'Day Tuxedo\" src=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/ODayTuxedo.png\" alt=\"radio advertising graphic\" width=\"158\" height=\"117\" \/>\n<p>Very few people have ever seen me wearing a tie, much less a tux. I am pleased (and surprised) to report that I actually managed to put on the tux without calling the front desk to ask that someone show me how to do it.<\/p>\n<p>(At first I wasn\u2019t sure what to do with the cummerbund, but finally I assumed I was supposed to wear it as a shoulder holster.)<\/p>\n<p>Luckily for me, the MBA awards show was very well organized. There were audio or video clips for each nominee, and all I had to do was follow the script as I introduced each one.<\/p>\n<p>Even more fortunate was the fact that the NAB\u2019s <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>John David <\/strong><\/span>\u2014 a former Missouri broadcaster \u2014 was in the audience, so I had someone to make fun of.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>June, 1995 (continued): My second trip this month was to Lake of the Ozarks, where Don Hicks and the Missouri Broadcasters Association had me present Power Phones and Promoting Your Radio Station.
