{"id":2105,"date":"2009-09-18T00:05:04","date_gmt":"2009-09-18T07:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/?p=2105"},"modified":"2009-09-17T19:56:51","modified_gmt":"2009-09-18T02:56:51","slug":"jerks-on-airplanes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/jerks-on-airplanes\/","title":{"rendered":"JERKS ON AIRPLANES: O\u2019Day\u2019s Travel Woes #48"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>May, 1995<\/strong> (continued)<strong>:<\/strong> In Berlin I did some work with<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong> r.s.2<\/strong><\/span>, whose program director was a former Armed Forces Radio broadcaster (and old <em>O\u2019LINERS<\/em> subscriber) named <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Rik de Lisle.<\/strong><\/span> (Rik since has sold his soul and become a highly respected programming consultant.)<\/p>\n<p>Given the hotel\u2019s low quality standard in the U.S., I didn\u2019t expect much when I was told I would be staying at a Ramada Inn. I was shocked to discover a very nice place. (Well, it appeared very nice; I was there only long enough to sleep.)<\/p>\n<p>From Berlin I flew to Cologne, where <strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Jeff van Gelder<\/span> <\/strong>met me and drove me to Oberhausen, where the following day I presented <em>Air Personality Plus+<\/em> for<strong> <span style=\"color: #000080;\">NRW<\/span><\/strong>. (This was a return engagement).<\/p>\n<p>Then it was back to the airport and on to Leipzig, where <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Dr. Monika Friedrich<\/strong><\/span> arranged for me to share a panel session with Delta Radio\u2019s esteemed <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Adam Hahne<\/strong><\/span>. That session was a lot of fun, but that made two visits now to Leipzig without having the time to see any of that historic city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note To Air Travelers: <\/strong> It is entirely possible to stand up from one\u2019s airline seat without pulling down on the seat in front of you.<\/p>\n<p>I was reminded of this on my flight home from Frankfurt.<\/p>\n<p>Some guy walked up the aisle and used the backs of passengers\u2019 seats as though they were railings. (No, he wasn\u2019t disabled.) In the midst of this, he pulled my seat backward. I happened to be sound asleep at the time.
