Honest.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">First, let&#8217;s listen to the radio commercial.<\/span><\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-19302-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Postings.com_.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Postings.com_.mp3\">http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Postings.com_.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some Observations About That Radio Ad<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>1.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> When the commercial begins with, &#8220;<em>Hi, I&#8217;m (Guy You Never Heard of), CEO of (Company You Never Heard of),&#8221;<\/em> it&#8217;s already in trouble. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Would the impact of that message been altered in any way if instead of &#8220;Mike O&#8217;Brien&#8221; it had been &#8220;Steve O&#8217;Reilly&#8221; or &#8220;Dave O&#8217;Malley&#8221;?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>2.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> If a listener remembers anything at all about that spot, most likely it&#8217;ll be &#8220;BBB.&#8221; &#8220;BBB,&#8221; however, was not the advertiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>3.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> Did you notice how you didn&#8217;t know what he was talking about when he first mentioned &#8220;BBB&#8221;? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">That&#8217;s because you don&#8217;t begin using the acronym (&#8220;BBB&#8221;) before having established what it represents (presumably, the Better Business Bureau).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>4.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> Most of the audience will ignore that entire spot. But if they force themselves to listen to it, here&#8217;s the message it will communicate to them:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;We&#8217;re not crooks. The BBB &#8212; uh, that stands for &#8216;Better Business Bureau&#8217; &#8212; gives us a high rating. So if you&#8217;ve been worrying that we might be crooks, relax; we&#8217;re not! Just ask the BBB, and they&#8217;ll tell you we&#8217;re not crooks!&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>5.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 They give two Calls to Action: Go to our website&#8230;or go to this <em>other<\/em> website, so you can read our reviews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>6.<\/strong><\/span> This really isn&#8217;t relevant to the (lack of) success of this radio commercial, but if you take one of the two <a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/alzheimers-radio-commercial\/\">Calls to Action<\/a> and <em>&#8220;check out our reviews at BBB.org,&#8221;<\/em> here is what you will see:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em>One<\/em> customer review. The anonymous customer reported having a &#8220;Positive Experience&#8221; with the business. No anecdotal explanation given.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Here&#8217;s a Suggestion for Postings.com<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In your radio ad, instead of talking endlessly about &#8220;BBB&#8221; and inviting people to go to BBB&#8217;s website, tell the targeted listener what your business can do to help their business find qualified employees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Yeah, I know that&#8217;s a wild, way-out-there idea.
