Whenever I call my bank, the customer service rep asks, \u201cAnd how is your business doing today?\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

1. My business is none of yours.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. You don\u2019t care. You\u2019re asking only because some consulting genius convinced Wells Fargo\u2019s management it would be a good idea \u2014 pretending to care about how my business is doing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Probably like most of your customers, I want to take care of my bank-by-phone business as quickly as possible. Being forced to engage in ridiculous and meaningless small talk wastes my time.<\/span><\/p>\n

If indeed time is money, then this policy wastes my money and causes my business to \u201cdo\u201d worse; I\u2019m answering your insincere question (to which you reply, \u201cGood, good\u201d) instead of concentrating on my business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kinda like the radio stations that take 45 seconds to tell listeners they spend less time talking and more time playing music.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kinda like the radio stations that say, \u201cWe want to know what YOU think\u201d<\/em> but never answer their studio lines or respond to emails.<\/span><\/p>\n
