It doesn’t matter if you do your radio show prep<\/a> on a computer, on your phone, in a spiral-bound notebook or on a bunch of napkins.<\/span><\/p>\n

What matters is that you keep abreast of what’s going on in the world and that you make each bit of preparation your own; discover your own “take” on something. <\/span><\/p>\n

Look for your own personal reaction to each item and ask, “What is the angle that is of interest to my listeners?” <\/em><\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>
\nA helpful exercise:<\/strong> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For every item you see in the news that you want to use on your show, ask yourself, “What will all the other radio hosts be doing with this bit?”<\/em> \u2014 and then come up with something different. <\/span><\/p>\n

Your competition probably makes it easy for you to stand out from the radio crowd, because almost certainly they do the the first, most obvious thing that pops into their minds. <\/span><\/p>\n
