I called up this program <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">director at a small station in Chester, Pennsylvania. He said, \u2018Yeah, I <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">have a weekend opening. Meet me at the station at 10:00 on Saturday <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">morning.\u2019 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cIt was about an hour-and-a-half drive for me. I got there at 10:00 and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">waited. 10:15&#8230;10:30&#8230;.Finally he arrived at 10:45. One of the jocks there <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">said, \u2018This guy is here to see you.\u2019 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cThe PD looked at me blankly and said, \u2018What do you want?\u2019 I said, \u2018I\u2019m <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Jay Meyers, and you told me to come at 10:00 this morning for an <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">interview.\u2019 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">He said, \u2018Oh, I changed my mind. I can\u2019t see you now.\u2019 And he walked <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">away. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cYears passed. I ended up as Program Director at WFIL\/Philadelphia in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">1983.\u00a0 My second day on the job I got this 12-page resume and letter: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2018I\u2019m this long-time Philadelphia air personality, I hear you may be going <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">oldies, and I want to be involved in it, I\u2019d be great for you, etc.\u2019 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cI read through the resume, and when I came to the part where it said, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u20181975:\u00a0 Program Director, WEEX\/Chester,\u2019 it suddenly clicked in. It was <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">the very same guy! <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cI wrote him a letter that said, \u2018In 1975, when you were program director <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">at WEEX and I was just a beginning jock, you had me drive out to your <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">station to meet you, but when I got there you wouldn\u2019t give me the time of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">day. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201c\u2018Well, guess what!\u2019 <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cAnd I put it in an envelope with his r\u00e9sum\u00e9 and mailed the entire <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">package back to him! <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cSo sometimes it\u2019s true:\u00a0 What goes around comes around.\u201d <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we heard from a radio personality who was frustrated at the lack of courtesy he believes emanates from too many program directors.
