If you weren&#8217;t a loyal reader then, probably you never saw it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Rune<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000080;\"> Dahl<\/span> of Radio Norge made me aware of this radio phone bit (I hate the term &#8220;prank call&#8221;) by <span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000080;\">B\u00e5rd <\/span>and<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #000080;\"> Vegard Ylvisaaker<\/span>, aka the <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/ylvis.com\/\">Ylvis Brothers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  aligncenter\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289097161650294386\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 232px; height: 191px; border: 0px none;\" alt=\"B\u00e5rd Ylvisaaker, Vegard Ylvisaaker, Ylvis Brothers\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_JygV9WxRKKc\/SWal2H6xTnI\/AAAAAAAAASs\/jbTKx_vGYOk\/s320\/YlvisBrothers.jpg\" width=\"232\" height=\"191\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Ylvis Brothers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A phone bit? What could anyone possibly do that&#8217;s new?<\/p>\n<p>The set-up is the guy is too nervous to talk on the telephone, so he sings instead. Give it a listen:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Sc8uA134uCw?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold; text-align: center;\">The Back Story<\/p>\n<p>I asked <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">B\u00e5rd<\/span> how they came up with this concept&#8230;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This was actually made on the last day on air {at NRK \u2014 Dan} for us. We needed something that could make us leave the air with a blast, and we were really quite desperate.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;d been thinking about making a phone call as an improvised musical for a long time, but actually found the idea a bit cheesy \u2014 or cheap. But since we had no other idea, we tried it \u2014 and it turned out to work better than we imagined.<\/p>\n<p>My brother, Vegard, played the piano in studio, while I was singing. We didn&#8217;t rehearse anything, just gave each other some signs to hint what moods we wanted for the separate parts.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Every now and then I hear something that&#8217;s both creative and new, and it gives me hope.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I originally shared this in the early days of this radio blog.
