(That one was Very Bad. This one is Even Worse.)<\/p>\n<p>I got this from <a href=\"http:\/\/danoday.com\/perfect-radio-sales-promotions\"><strong>Doug Harris<\/strong><\/a>, who was sent a copy of it 15 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, the only thing that prevents this from being a Typical Bad Radio Sales Promo Break from 2011 is the encouragement of listeners to fax (not email, text or tweet) their entries.<\/p>\n<p><object id=\"audioplayer1\" width=\"260\" height=\"24\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" data=\"http:\/\/www.siteproweb.com\/player\/audioplayer.swf\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.trafficgeyser.net\/player\/audioplayer.swf\" \/><param name=\"FlashVars\" value=\"playerID=1&amp;autostart=no&amp;bg=0xf8f8f8&amp;leftbg=0xeeeeee&amp;lefticon=0x666666&amp;rightbg=0xcccccc&amp;rightbghover=0x999999&amp;righticon=0x666666&amp;righticonhover=0xFFFFFF&amp;text=0x666666&amp;slider=0x666666&amp;track=0xFFFFFF&amp;border=0x666666&amp;loader=0x9FFFB8&amp;soundFile=http%3A%2F%2Fdanoday.com%2Fblogaudio%2FKVI%2DSalesPromo.mp3\" \/><param name=\"quality\" value=\"high\" \/><param name=\"menu\" value=\"false\" \/><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#FFFFFF\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>That break has too many bad elements to list them all here. So, just a few stand-outs&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>* The host begins by announcing it&#8217;s time for the trivia contest&#8230;and then, bizarrely, launches into a pitch for a <strong>different<\/strong> station contest.<\/p>\n<p>* He gives <strong>seven<\/strong> different phone numbers with which to enter.<\/p>\n<p>* He gives those 7 phone numbers <strong>before<\/strong> telling listeners they <strong>aren&#8217;t<\/strong> for the trivia contest he&#8217;d just announced; it&#8217;s for the <strong>other<\/strong> thing.<\/p>\n<p>* The radio station proudly lists among the valuable prizes for the person who correctly answers the trivia question: a keychain&#8230;a pen&#8230;and a bumper sticker.<\/p>\n<p>* In listing the prizes for the trivia contest, he promotes a <strong>third<\/strong> event: a station remote &#8220;from Bernie&#8217;s Bagels.&#8221; (I can&#8217;t make up stuff this bad, folks.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Subscribers to my Radio Advertising Letter know the most recent issue included my critique of an exceptionally bad, very recent major market sales promo on a music station.
