Neither Richard nor Shana had ever produced an audiobook.
Shana had auditioned unsuccessfully on ACX; Richard hadn’t tried it.
Just 30 days after she finished the ACX Master Class, she had…. Well, I’ll let her tell it in her own words.

Richard had been told by audiobook “experts” that the editing process would require “hours and hours.”
Surprise!
Some editing methods are much faster & easier than others.
Richard learned the fast method, and 30 days after finishing the ACX Master Class he was producing 3 audiobooks…without feeling pressured or overwhelmed.
In this video, he describes certain other voiceover related classes he’s taken as being “not much meat and a whole lot of bun” (and explains why).
He also uses a term I’d never heard before: “Make a dog’s breakfast out of it.”
That’s what I love about this biz. You learn something new every day.
The moments when Richard’s voice is out of sync with the audio are courtesy of the Skype gods. Please don’t blame Richard.
I’ve heard from a number people on our Audiobook Alert List who wanted to listen to the free playback of yesterday’s Q&A…but who can’t access it from their mobile Apple devices (iPhone, iPads, iPod touches), because the recording is streamed in Flash.
I didn’t realize our third-party service had switched to Flash until today.
One came to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
Another does voice overs from her home in South Carolina.
Just a few months ago, neither ever had recorded an audiobook.
Katherine had been given some bad direction from a voiceover coach who knows about VO performance but doesn’t know about the optimal conditions for recording books.

Ryan had never even thought of pursuing audiobooks, until he talked to a friend who graduated from our ACX Master Class last year.

Here are two more people who refused to believe “it can’t be done,” so they went ahead and did it.
Prior to the class, neither had ever recorded an audiobook. As you’ll see, things had changed for both of them about a month after the class ended.
Here’s our “recovering radio talk show host,” Dirk Thompson.

Emma Clarkwill raise some eyebrows by declaring that with our class’s “stairstep method,” now she actually looks forward to editing her audiobook recordings.
