The other day on Facebook I asked radio DJs: “How many air names have you had in your career…and what were they?”
You’ll find one set of answers here and another set of answers here.
Eric Bohlen said, “When I first started in radio, new guys had to use names of jingle shouts that the station already had!”
Brent Walker said, “I worked at a station that was so cheap that we all had to change our names to the names of jocks at their other station (a state away.) Why? They had already paid for the Jock Shouts.”
Chuck McKay added, “Well, I have been known to splice a first name to a different last name in order to create a new Jock ID.”
The responses from Eric, Brent and Chuck inspired me to share this with you.
In case you haven’t already been introduced to my handy Radio DJ Helper, at 1:48 of this video you’ll see our ever-so-handy Jock Shouts Generator in action.

Not trying to be a smart-A… but, “You’re find one set of answers here and another set of answers here.” How about, “You’ll find….” 😉
