Oh Boy! Whoever writes and approves these sure has the hang of radio Whatever made us think we understood it – all that time doing show prep – writing funny bits and “just chatting” about great music with the listener. It was all a waste of time – just call in the consultants. Here in the UK an ex BBC Director General (Big Cheese) once said “Radio and TV are the same – only the method of delivery is different” I laughed when I heard that – I’m not laughing now
“From our Department of Redundancy Department…”
Lamest was a Classic Rock station (avg song length 4 min+ with a commercial load of 16 minutes over 2 stop sets and 2 songs between the breaks) “WXXX” With a GUARANTEED 10 in a row! Every hour.” Do the math. That’s impossible and they seldom played more than 8 songs in a row but never changed the liner.
We had a liner similar to that cut by our station voice hire that said exactly that….by design, where he follows up with his own incredulous question of “who wrote this thing?”…..listeners loved it.
You see what I did there? Similar to that, that said, exactly that?
I wrote one under protest: A Guaranteed 60 minute hour!
Here there’s a station that STOPS the music to tell us that it will NOT stop the music for the next 30 minutes… Another one pretends to play 16 hits per hour (mini montages). Credibility problem?
