ESCAPING THE “DJ” PERSONA, Part 8

(Eighth in a series)

how to be a radio DJ personality

A Loyal Reader Asks:

“How can you teach young jocks to ‘be real’ — to break out of the ‘I’m a DJ’ persona and become communicators?”

Have them critique others’ airchecks.

After the jock has become accustomed to your style of critiquing and has begun to learn what to look for, have him critique airchecks you provide, while you listen and take notes.

When he identifies areas of weakness on the those tapes, ask for suggestions on ways that the jock could have improved the communication.
