THE VERDICT ON THIS “ARTSY” COMMERCIAL

automobile advertisingI don’t have anything against “artsy” advertising. I do have great disdain, however, for advertising that employs “art for art’s sake.”

So what’s my opinion of this artsy new commercial for the Honda CR-Z hybrid sports car? Let’s go to the tape….

Gee Dan , my thoughts on the commercial weren’t even close to yours , i’m thinking the average tv viewer , wouldn’t agree with you , maybe another advertising whiz would , but for me i thought it was a nothing commercial .

@Pete: I think you make a point when you say “average TV viewer.”

This is (they claim) the world’s first hybrid sports cars. This commercial hopes to get the attention of “early adopters” of automotive innovations.

Which wouldn’t include the average TV viewer but would include some TV viewers.

I heard the audio track and found it suspenseful. I saw the motion in each shot and thought forward motion. The ball going down the up escalator caught my interest, too.

I did not get the color image connections on first view. So there is a multi-exposure value to this as well. And they can alter the ad over time to reveal even more.
