Shari Lewis was wonderfully talented and a favorite part of my childhood.
And her artistry as a ventriloquist was virtuosic.
See for yourself….

Oh I loved her, too! Takes me back to such a simpler time….I’ll still catch an I Love Lucy episode once in a while, too! Thx for sharing this!
God bless her. I just adored Shari Lewis.
Kukla, Fran and Ollie were my “peeps”! And Soupy Sales!
Loved Soupy and before him Red Skelton! And then Carol Burnett….Ahhhh, those were MY peeps!
@Thomas: I loved Kukla, Frank and Ollie.
Those two would be nothing without Hush Puppy and Charlie Horse.
Captain Kangaroo!!!
@Dana: I actually had lunch with Captain Kangaroo. Really.
I have exactly two photos on my wall of me with celebrities.
One is me with Muhammad Ali.
The other is me with Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo).
I loved Captain Kangaroo – and Mr. Green Jeans! I loved the Mickey Mouse Club, too. I wasn’t crazy about Howdy Doody; Andy Devine was nice, but I didn’t like Froggy – he had a scary voice.
Hoppy, and Roy, and Flash Gordon. Talk about scary, Ming the Merciless. Ooh scary!
I am trying to learn how to throw my voice does aney body know an easy way? aney way my dream is to do a kids show when i grow up just like Shari. i am working on all of my skills so i can do everything she did. dont forget to comment if you know how!
