British humor can be ‘understated’ or ‘way over the top.’ I can imagine the popular response to his antics, especially as he emerged at a time when the BBC was very ‘proper.’
Question: the ‘clips in the video seem to imply that he is no longer with us. Is he alive and well somewhere, still entertaining?

With today’s ‘consolidation’ of so many radio stations in the US, the opportunity for a wacky talent to surface is very small.
Will ownership of key stations across our land ever fall into the hands of people who understand ‘live and local’ and let raw talent come to the fore? Of course it would be an amazing development but you’ll turn blue if you hold your breath until it happens.
