So I’m NOT the only “former DJ” with a GIANT BOX of tapes from the “good old days”??
My wife doesn’t understand. She says… “You never listen to them, why can’t we get rid of these”
Good question really. I’m not sure WHY I need them. I don’t even have a tape player anymore. I guess I just want to hold on to the fun!!
I still have box full, sitting in the closet. I so don’t want the title as “former jock”.

I had a giant box of tapes until some bitch nemed Katrina blew into town in ’05 and washed them into the GULF OF FRIGGIN’ MEXICO!!! I had most of them transferred to digital except for one station, B-97 New Orleans. I’ll never forget the first time I heard Bobby Ocean saying my name on the jock drop. Love ya Bobby!
could be worse…..my basement is a museum of RS gear, cart machines, reel to reel, a 30 year old console rotary pot console..the last station I worked for was doing renos and started tossing stuff…it’s all connected and works pretty good…something to play around with…though I had to teach myself how to fix the dang stuff…LOL!
I love it! My parents recently visited me in London from Ireland. They brought over my giant box of tapes. You’ll never guess what I found inside amongst the aircheck tapes: my original Dan O’Day Power Phones cassette from the 90s. Must be worth a few quid!
Cliff: I think it’s safe to say it made you what you are today.
