MONDAY RADIO COMMERCIAL SMACKDOWN: Verizon’s Push-To-Talk

Dave Corey contributes this horrible spot, along with an explanation:

Every time I hear this I ask myself if Verizon just pooped on their product. To me this commercial says, “Thank God that pest is off the Verizon push-to-talk; now we can get some work done.” That’s what I’m hearing. You?

Yep, that’s the message Verizon is paying to advertise: “Lower your company’s productivity today with Verizon’s Push-To-Talk.”

Yes they did poop on their product!

I have always been amazed at the cell industry because this isn’t the first time I’ve heard them display reasons to not use a product in their commercial.

There have been dozens of commercials since the dawn of cell phones that demonstrate people using the products in ways that totally destroy any benefit of having the product. From annoying calls from ex-boyfriend/girlfriends and stalkers to idiots like this guy overusing the two-way messaging to the point where his co-workers want to kill him.

Apparently the cell phone industry thinks that their biggest customer base is stalkers and morons.

Well then perhaps the campaign is actually successful?

“Apparently the cell phone industry thinks that their biggest customer base is stalkers and morons.”
That’s a brilliant observation, John! Perhaps I’ve underestimated the depths to which advertisers will sink.
