…I liked all the KFWB personalities. Yocum, along with B. Mitchel Reed, and Bill Ballance. But, without question, Al Jarvis (Make Believe Ballroom) was the best. It was Jarvis who made me want to become a disc jockey.

Wgeb I was a pre-teen living in Long Beach, CA I listened to Al Jarvis, also Duke Norton, Hanes At The Reins. When KBIG first went on the air. Later, 1969 I worked at KBIG. Before that, In November of 1964 when the New owners took over KEZY, Anaheim..studios in the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel, they hired me from KSTN Stocton, CA. I worked the mid day shift and did production for a few months than was called into the GM’s office and waw told I would be the new morning man, taking over for Al Jarvis.
Stunned was I to take the reins from Al Jarvis. He was just gone, like that, gone. He never worked in radio again. One of my chilfhood broadcasting idols and this kid uncermioniously tool his place. None of us at KEZY even got the chance to say goodby. Oh, regaring Color Radio….it was the greatest…we high school kids at Saint Anthony’s and Wildon High Schools
in Long Beach finally heard modern radio that was full of life.
I loved the KFWB jocks suits andn ties too.
