In 1967, when Paul McCartney was 24 years old, a newspaper reporter asked him if he’d ever taken LSD.
McCartney had three choices:
1) Tell the truth: He had taken LSD.
2) Lie and say he never had.
3) Refuse to answer — thereby effectively saying “yes.”
He answered the reporter’s question honestly.
This TV interviewer thinks McCartney’s answer was irresponsible. But McCartney puts the blame for “spreading the news” squarely where it belongs….

paul’s right
sad thing is, if anything, 43 years later the media has gotten 1000 s of times worse with tabloids, radio. internet sites and TV shows feeding people’s “nosiness” on a daily basis, because it’s worth $$$$
there is very much a blurr between real news and “infotainment”
The age old dilema – which is worse, committing the crime or exploiting the crime for gain? The media certainly exploits everything for gain and in my opinion is guilty of much worse in terms of social responsibility.
It takes a really sick mind to imagine all the immoral behavior that COULD happen (but usually doesn’t happen) just so some self-righteous person to get all worked up about it and gain publicity and money. And yes, I am talking about certain TV preachers, news reporters, and talk show hosts.
I think the types who prey on and exploit celebrity behavior problems are far worse people than the celebrities who have the problems.
Love Paul, and have always admired his being so candid in this interview.
Think about it. This is one of the the last…if not THE last interview he ever gave before the whole Macca PR machine kicked in. He wasn’t this honest about the whole Tokyo incident. And there was no beating around the bush on THAT one.
great interview and love the Honest and the Point of View ..
Pure and innocent Paul McCartney telling the truth. Who’s to cast to a stone. Well done Paul!
They were cutting it close back then as LSD wasn’t illegal when he first dropped anyway. I still want to mary him!
