I work for a local TV station as a reporter... I use Twitter to tell my small, but growing list of followers about stories I'm covering in 140 characters or less to inform and to encourage to watch the nightly news. No "Why do they have two-ply hand towels and one-ply toilet paper?" from me (actual twitter received a number of weeks ago - great video, by the way.

We just signed up with twitter two weeks ago. When I'm on the air I will tweet that the brand new song by X is coming up in a few minutes... or that I will be giving away tickets after the next break.

We also have had clients wanting to use twitter for promotions... text this key word now for 25% off at Big Store.

Kevin

So much so that I'll be doing a How Your Radio Station Can Use Twitter To Increase Ratings & Revenue teleseminar.

No firm date yet. First I have to mind map the hundreds of notes I've made for it....

Twitter is actually about a lot more than "What Are You Doing Right Now?". Some people use it that way, but it can be of a great way to connect to other people, reach out and provide useful, hopefully helpful information. It also gives our listeners a closer glimpse into our lives. Instead of answering the question "What Are You Doing Right Now?", consider tweeting information other people will find useful, amusing or relevant...
